Effective security strategies to combat changing threats to maritime safety

The maritime environment is serving more than 90 per cent of global trade and an estimated 15-16 million barrels of oil transit through the Gulf region every single day.

With the growing threat of terrorism, pirate attacks, illegal trafficking and smuggling, how is the Middle East adapting its maritime security and coastal surveillance strategies to counter these threats?

Middle East Maritime Security and Surveillance 2010 will allow senior naval, coast guards and port security officials to discuss effective strategies to combat threats to maritime safety and prevent massive disruption to the global economy.

New for 2010:

  • More focus on Maritime Domain Awareness
  • More counter-piracy strategies
  • More regional participants from the GCC and Middle East region
  • More focus on technological systems and strategies available to address maritime threats

Who should attend and who will I meet?

At Middle East Maritime Security and Surveillance 2010, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and hear from maritime security key stakeholders including:

  • Naval and Coast Guards Forces
  • Port Authorities and Customs
  • Government Agencies and National Security Organisations
  • Maritime Security and Surveillance Systems Providers

Key issues to be discussed include:

  • Enhancing the region’s Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA)
  • Reducing the vulnerability of the Middle East maritime domain
  • Encouraging a unified legal and political framework to combat maritime threats
  • Enhancing international and regional cooperation
  • Enforcing anti-crime surveillance, intelligence and information sharing in the Middle East
  • Identifying the latest technologies for maritime security and surveillance applications
